Have you ever wondered if you're completely wasting your time on something? Or maybe sometimes you thought you were wasting your time, but the skill you spent time on developing actually paid off?

I created this lesson to showcase a bunch of un-necessary drumming beats/techniques. Although you could consider these grooves interesting or fun to watch, they are mostly useless when it comes down to our main job as drummers which is to keep time.

But as I continue to study and play drums more, I realize why I actually play drums. I play drums because I love to play drums. So whether or not I am going to be able to use something musically isn't always the main question I ask myself before learning something. I always ask myself "Is practicing this fun?" If the answer is yes then I go for it and don't look back.

So I encourage you to do the same. Figure out why you play drums and it will be easier for you to decide exactly what to practice.
